Hilary is passionate about meeting clients where they are and supporting their growth into the most expansive versions of themselves.
Hilary’s journey into the mental health field was sparked by a deep fascination with how trauma is stored within the body. Through her own personal healing, she discovered a desire to guide others in reconnecting with their physical selves, unlearning shame, understanding trauma responses, making values-aligned changes, and ultimately embracing their authentic selves. Hilary earned her M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from William & Mary in 2023 and is currently a LPCA in Kentucky. She holds certifications in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which strongly influence her work. Hilary’s areas of specialization and interest include somatic (body-oriented) trauma therapy, PTSD, grief, neurodivergence and executive functioning, LGBTQIA2S+ issues, gender transitions, coming-of-age issues for young adults, life transitions, anxiety, depression, healthy communication, and both individual and group therapy.
Hilary is passionate about meeting clients where they are and supporting their growth into the most expansive versions of themselves. Her approach is rooted in person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed principles, prioritizing the establishment of a strong foundation of trust. This trust is crucial, as a wise psychotherapist once noted, we are hurt in relationships and therefore must heal in relationships. As a therapist, she fosters this trust so that clients can, in turn, build trust within themselves. Hilary supports them in becoming more aware of ingrained patterns that no longer serve them, determining a path forward that aligns with their needs, and cultivating curiosity about their values and desires.
What Hilary finds most meaningful about her role is the opportunity to provide a space where clients feel truly seen and heard, especially in areas of their lives where they may feel isolated and misunderstood. It is an honor for Hilary to sit with clients in these moments and help them cultivate gentleness and understanding within themselves. As Ram Dass so eloquently put it, we are all just walking each other home.
Working within a trauma-informed environment is essential for this type of healing work. Hilary deeply values the ability to collaborate with colleagues who share this understanding and to provide a space for clients that prioritizes their needs, their sense of safety, and their lived experiences above all else.
